Tribute to Juergen Aldag
(:: Home ::)

In loving memory of Juergen Hans Bruno Aldag, "The Celebrity Artist", who passed away on Jan. 19, 2006 in Las Vegas. He was born on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1955 in Hamburg, Germany. He has lived in Las Vegas and Hawaii for almost 15 years, painting artwork of his superstar friends, including his fellow countrymen, Siegfried & Roy's celebrity animals. Juergen is world renown for his unique signature fine art, that no other artist can duplicate, as well as for the celebrities that collect them. He had a heart of gold and a smile that spoke volumes. He was one-of-a-kind and as colorful as his paintings. He loved the Beatles and the Scorpions music, chess and soccer. He will be missed and forever remembered by all that had the pleasure of knowing him. He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Wendy Arvella; father, Bruno; sister, Angelica; cat/son, Ivory; and hundreds of paintings for all the world to share.

True Friends

Juergen's video tribute that his wife Wendy produced for his tribute last Sunday at the Hofbrauhaus was very emotional and touching. His friends, Siegfried & Roy were obviously very moved by the tape (DVD), that was shown on the large flat screens in the Hofbrauhause beer garden room, when they saw Juergen's documentary.

The Juergen Aldag Tribute DVD was a compilation of photos and videos of Juergen, some of which were of his daily life painting in his art studio, and some were of him with Siegfried & Roy (on many occasions), and some of him at a few of the numerous fundraisers that he attended and donated hundreds of paintings to over the years, and with the Scorpions at some Art of Aldag art exhibitions of his Scorpion art collections in Vegas, in which the band members attended and signed his paintings, only because they are friends of his.

Some of Juergen and Wendy's private collection of Aldag masterpieces were on display, but not for sell. They were all awesome and revealed the various subjects that Juergen created in his signature abstract art style. Many were surprised at the versatility of Juergen's art, because most of the originals in their private collection have never been available for public viewing before, outside of their home / house art gallery.

The event was complicated by too many unnecessary distractions for such a sentimental tribute to a man like Juergen, that could have filled the whole Hofbrauhaus restaurant with his masterpieces alone, as he left over one hundred original paintings for all the world to cherish. He really didn't need all the "side acts", as his art was entertaining enough for any one day's event, especially to give tribute to him as an artist that has been painting for over four decades.

There was no need to compromise his tribute.

Juergen's Tribute at the Hofbrauhaus was really a great honor to Juergen Aldag. Siegfried & Roy appeared at the Hofbrauhaus just to give honor to Juergen, their long time friend. They spoke at least 5 minutes just about Juergen, along with his wife, Wendy, who was very elegant and sentimental as she gave her tribute speech directed to Siegfried & Roy and her beloved husband Juergen.

There was a huge crowd there at Juergen's tribute, most of which were Juergen's friends, fans and art collectors. Some of his unique and beautiful original artwork was on display, most were not for sale, but more for show to let people see his genious when it came to creating masterpieces. (Some prints were made available for purchase.)

It's just too bad that John Katsilometes of the Las Vegas Sun missed the point in his politically inspired news report, practically excluding the primary purpose for Siegfried & Roy being at Juergen's tribute, which was to honor his friends. He did not mention one word of praise for the artist, Juergen, who meant the most to Siegfried & Roy, and was undisputedly the best artist that was showing at this unknown wine n art festival. Juergen's artwork deserved to have been mentioned and most definitely some photos of it should have been encluded in this bias news article.

What a shame that Siegfried & Roy came to give tribute to their friend Juergen Aldag and were unknowingly used to promote a very weak art festival.

The Tribute to Juergen at the Hofbrauhaus yesterday was wonderful. I didn't know that Juergen had painted so many different types of paintings and that he was such a great artist in every way, until I saw all of his artwork at his tribute. His work amazed me. From the Beatles to the Notes of Mozart, from flowers to dice sculptures, from animals to abstracts, his work is outstanding and now I understand why he is considered one of the greatest artists of all time.

Siegfried & Roy spoke so highly of him during the tribute ceremony and it was very touching to hear how dear Juergen was to them. They knew him well, and obviously appreciated and loved him deeply.

His beautiful wife Wendy, looked so glamourous and carried herself with such grace and class as she spoke about her husband Juergen, his art and their love for each other. She addressed Siegfried & Roy as friends and they embraced her as friends would during a tragic time, as they all shared their grief from losing Juergen.

This was a media blitz as there were at least 20 television and newspaper cameras clicking throughout the ceremony.

When the video documentary of Juergen was played during the ceremony, the room fell silent as everyone watched and were touched by the warm, sentimental presentation of photos and film footage of his life as an artist. There were tears and adoration during that display.

We all felt the presence of Juergen's spirit at his tribute, and I only regret he was not there so that we all could have given him a big hug and thumbs up for all the beautiful artwork that he created for all of us, for all time.

It was clear that Juergen will never be forgotten and that he will always be recognized and respected as one of the greatest artists of all time.

I bought a beautiful limited edition print of Juergen Aldag's yesterday and I will cherish it forever.

"Love is all you need", was Juergen's favorite saying. He had plenty. He knew what was important and chose love over worldly gain. We can all learn a lot from his way of life.

God Bless you Juergen!

We are so happy about Juergen's tribute at the Hofbrauhaus this Sunday. Juergen deserves all the recognition that he will get because he worked so hard, most of his life, to create some of the best artwork in the world. He is one of the greatest artists of all time! The quality of his art surpasses most other up and coming artists. He was an experienced MASTER at his craft. Creating completely unique art, not imitations of past artists. Juergen introduced an absolutely new technique and style of art, that is rich in quality and substance. This is an accomplishment that very few artists, that ever lived on earth, at any time, can claim.

Hopefully, people and friends will not try to take advantage of the situation and try to profit from Juergen's well deserved fame and fans. This day should be all about Juergen and not other businesses and artists. We will be there to pay tribute to Juergen, because we love him and his art. This is the purpose of a "Tribute".
